Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones



was born in Birmingham in 1833. It was in 1856 that he first met Rossetti, who was to greatly influence him. Features such as sleeping women, sleep, dreams and states of trance-like stillness are frequent in his works. He was made a baronet in 1864 and died in 1898.
