Artist: William Frederick Yeames

Profile: A painting illustrating a scene from the English Civil War in which the victorious Parliamentarians interrogate the son of a Royalist Cavalier as to his father's whereabouts. Behind him his sister is crying, while his mother looks anxiously on.

Born in 1835, William Frederick Yeames was well known for his paintings of British History. In later life his style changed along with his subject matter, to a more modern theme. He died in 1918.
