Edvard Munch

Born in Norway 1863, died 1944. Edvard Munch was an exponent of the Nordic spirit and possessed a vision that communicated the exploration of anxiety and anguish. He studied in Oslo and travelled across Europe until the early 1900’s, however he suffered from bouts of mental illness, which could account for the extraordinary quality in his art. Life, love and death were recurring subjects, often focusing on woman as powerful, enigmatic creatures.
