Artist: Raymond Sipos
Profile: Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1938, Raymond Sipos is descended from a family of Hungarian musicians and violin makers. After studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in California, he worked as a mechanisms and optics engineer for Jet Propulsion Laboratory before becoming a full-time artist in 1972.

The preliminary ideas for his paintings come from browsing through hundreds of colour slides which he has developed through the years. Armed with a camera, he goes to unusual locations to photograph whatever intrigues his senses. His works have a consistent geometrical connotation and their dynamic composition comes from a theoretical understanding of nature's elements.
